CAST: Cultivating Arts and Students Together
If you have a student between the ages of 14 and 19 who love theatre and want to learn more about it, all while obtaining community service credit, then the CAST program is the perfect program. CAST pairs young volunteers with theREP volunteers and staff members to give them an in depth and entertaining learning experience about how our volunteers make the show go on! CAST members participate in a training session and volunteer once during each of our six productions in theREP’s season.
CAST members participate in a two-hour training session in the fall. Participants will meet members of theREP’s staff, learn about the role of the House Manager, Company Manager, stage crew and more. They will go on a backstage tour of the Theatre to learn about its history, what happens to prepare for and during performances. They will meet some of theREP’s key volunteers, learn about the various volunteer positions at theREP and learn about what they will be doing on show nights. All the while earning credits!
CAST volunteers have specific assignments as ushers and working as theatre ambassadors. The area they volunteer in will change with each performance. Students watch the performance for free and return to their respective assignments during intermission and at the conclusion of the performance.
