The heat and sensuality of the tropics collide with the passion of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina in this provocative and exciting story from Latino Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz. The lives of a group of Cuban-American cigar rollers are forever changed by the arrival of a handsome lector, who reads Tolstoy to the workers as they labor. Tradition and modernity, myth and morality are tested by the characters against the sweet and powerful influence of one of the world's greatest novels. Contains mature subject matter. (There is no smoking in this play.)

Opening Night! - Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - Pre-show entertainment from 6:30 to 7:20PM with a champagne/dessert following the performance. Show begins at 7:30.

Nilo Cruz, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Anna in the Tropics.

Our evening starts with live Latin music, tropical beverages and a wonderful array of delectable food from Chef Jaime Ortiz of Angelo’s 677 Prime. We also have incredible auction items such as pre-Castro stamps from Cuba, hand rolled cigars, tropical flower arrangements, premium bottles of Port and more. Then, we invite you to experience the humor and intellect of our honorary guest, Nilo Cruz, at an intimate theatre-setting interview. We’ll wrap up our evening with more Latin music, champagne and wonderful desserts!
