S.T.A.R. Program

S.T.A.R. (Summer Theatre At the 'Rep) is a summer-camp full-day program for adolescents ages 12-18 to work alongside professional theatre staff members to create an original piece based on their own experiences and research. Hands-on classes and workshops guide the process of creating a new work using the New York State standards for teaching and learning in the Arts. It's a great chance to work creatively as a team and grow as an individual.

This summer the theme will be "Shakespearence" and will offer participants the opportunity to use their sense of adventure to explore the words and themes of Shakesoeare's plays - taking inspiration from the Bard - and making them relevent to teens of today! The original play will be performed on the Capital Rep Stage on the final STAR weekend - 3PM on Friday, August 10; 12 noon on Saturday, August 11 and at 7PM on Sunday, August 12.

STAR 2007 dates are July 9 through August 10, 2007 from 9am to 4:30pm. Classes are held at Capital Rep and in our adjacent Education Building. Tuition of $875 includes all materials. Participants must supply their own lunches and snacks.

STAR-lite Summer 2007 is a summer-camp program for adolescents ages 8 - 12 and is conducted in a 1-week sessions, from 9am - 3pm, June 25 - June 29, 2007. Each one-week session is filled with activities to inspire creativity and stimulate young imaginations. Special hands-on workshops and activities in acting, movement, music and well as arts and crafts will revolve around' the summer theme, "STAR-lite Albany." Kids will use their natural artistic abilities and sense of adventure to explore the city, it's arcitechture and landscapes throughout the world. At the end of each session, family and friends are invited to join the students for an afternoon of sharing.

STAR-lite sessions are held at The EGG. Tuition of $175 and includes all field trips and materials. Participants must supply their own lunches and snacks. Daily after care, from 3pm - 5pm, is available at an added cost of $100.00 for the week. Students must sign up for the full two-weeks of after care - single days cannot be accommodated.
